Blue Tribe Beavers
Weekly meetings Tuesday Nights from 7-8pm.
Section Leader: Karen Dawson.
In 2011 a second Beaver section Blue Beavers was set up to deal with large numbers on our waiting list and has grown over the years.
At the meetings they will play games and learn scouting skills like hiking, camping, knots, first aid, cooking etc…
Beavers work in small teams called Lodges which are led by one of the Beaver Scouts – This person is known as the lodge leader, there is also an assistant lodge leader.
On average Blue Beavers in a scouting year have 3 one night camps to lead up to a 2 night annual camp where the beavers camp in tents.
LATEST NEWS
On Sunday 23rd May the section held an investiture cermony for the Scouting year 2020-2021 new members. It was held outdoors up at Ducketts Grove. The section invested 9 new members into Blue Tribe Beavers. Our Group Leader Gale was present to officially welcome the 9 youth members to 5th Carlow Town Scout group as they start their scouting adventure.
Since Lockdown the Blue Tribe Beavers have been holding their meetings online using the Zoom platform. They have been busy working on their Environment badge. They had a discussion around recycling with their leaders and were given the challenge of making something from recycling materials in their homes.
ACHIEVEMENTS
In November 2020 on a sunny Saturday morning the section presented 5 Beaver Chief Scout Awards to the oldest Beavers. The Beaver Chief Scout Award is the highest award that a Beaver can achieve in their last year in the Beaver section. This was a very special achievement for these beavers as they all did the work at home for the award as the Beaver meetings were cancelled due to the first Covid19 lockdown. A very proud moment for the Beavers, Leaders and Parents. All the 5 Beavers that received their award have continued on their journey in Scouting and are now active members of the groups Cub Section.
